Spread: Georgia (-34)

The Red Wolves sailed to their first victory of the young season on Saturday when they beat UNLV 43-17. The offense was successful in both facets of the game while the defense limited UNLV to only 300 total yards.
Quarterback Logan Bonner passed for 284 yards and 2 touchdowns. Omar Bayless was his top target as he caught 6 passes for 147 yards, the most yards from scrimmage of any player on the team.
The running game was successful and enjoyed switching the pace with 4 different backs. Ryan Graham was most efficient as he averaged 8.6 YPC on 12 touches with a touchdown. The running backs compiled 214 yards, bringing the total up to 498 across the offense.
The defense looked strong, allowing starting quarterback Armani Rogers only 42 passing yards on less than a 40% completion rate. Were it not for a 56 yards garbage time pass, UNLV would have less than 60 yards passing.
Arkansas State was good at getting into the backfield with a whopping 10 TFL. Of those 10, 6 were sacks. UNLV’s running game was decent as lead back Charles Williams had 168 yards and a touchdown, but no one else came close to that production.
Arkansas State’s Jerry Smith intercepted a pass for a touchdown while 3 different players led the team with 7 tackles.
The Bulldogs predictably won over Murray State 63-17 with incredible production from everyone on the team. The run game was the feature as Jake Fromm threw only 11 passes and was out of the game after 2 quarters.
Fromm obviously wasn’t benched for bad play considering her was 10-11 with 166 yards and a touchdown. He was just down since it was a 35 point game at halftime. Backup Stetson Bennett added another 2 aerial touchdowns in the 2nd half.
The running game produced 269 yards and 5 touchdowns. D’Andre Swift led the team with 2 scores while Zamir White had a team high 72 yards and another touchdown. George Pickins and Eli Wolf both had over 70 yards receiving.
Georgia forced 2 turnovers with one interception and one forced fumble. The team also put up 11 TFL with 6 sacks. Mark Webb led the team with 6 tackles.
Murray State was able to pass at a decent clip, but the run game was shut down. Only 23 yards in 27 attempts. That’s pretty good.
Analysis and Pick
This is obviously a softball for Georgia to smash out of the park, but the numbers are interesting here. Arkansas State have shown a pretty good offense and should be able to have some success passing the ball if they want. However, I think that both teams will slow this one way down and hand the ball off a ton.
I don’t think this game will hit the over. Georgia doesn’t have as good of a defense as they’ve had in recent years but it’s still incredible and should limit the Red Wolves to under 10 points. Georgia gets comfortable they’ll pull all their starters and let them have fun.
The spread should go Georgia’s way. Georgia has no problem running up the score early, so look for a big lead at halftime that the backups will be able to push a little higher in the second half. This game will likely be exciting for all of 3 series.
