Big Ten Bottom Feeder Bout

By: Ryan Clark

Spread: Maryland -12 ½

O/U: 56

Game Time/ Location: 12 pm ET, BTN, Stadium, Piscataway, NJ

The Terrapins (2-2, 0-1) got flat-out embarrassed by Penn St in their 59-0 loss. What happened to Maryland? After their terrific start, it seems like they’ve taken a nosedive. They had two weeks to prepare for the Nittany Lions, yet they could only muster 128 yards of total offense, gave up 30 first downs, and turned the ball over three times, all the while giving up a whopping 619 yards of offense to Penn St. Yikes.

The Scarlet Knights (1-3, 0-2) didn’t fare much better, as they got blasted by Michigan 52-0. The loss was so bad that Rutgers’ brass fired head coach Chris Ash the next day. Tight ends coach Nunzio Campanile has been named the interim coach, and will finish out the year as such. Not their O-co or D-co, but their tight ends coach. Okey dokey, Rutgers.

Final Analysis & Pick

Both teams come into this one without having scored a point in their last game. It’s hard to predict how either team will fare here, but especially Rutgers, given that their head coach just got canned. Such things tend to have an emotional and psychological impact on players. But here are some stats you might want to consider:

Maryland obviously has the better team here. Given how poorly the Scarlet Not’s offense has played, the Terps defense should have little problem. The line started off at 14 ½, but has since fallen to 12 ½ as of this writing. I’m going with Maryland here, as I can see this being an absolute blowout.
