Boston Red Sox vs Chicago White Sox: Preview & Prediction – 5/4/19

Chris Sale did just as I expected yesterday, and I’m PISSED I didn’t get it in writing. I was way too busy working my real job (yes I have one of those) and prepping for my trip down to Scottsdale, AZ to see my boys. Anyways, Sailor dominated our beloved White Sox Friday night. I think he went 6.0 innings, giving up only 3 hits and 1 walk. He sat down 10 Sox batters via the strikeout. I’ve been saying this, and check me on my facts here, this is a series where the BoSox are going to use Chicago as a springboard and really get it going. Notable – I had that pick nailed until Ryan Brasier gave up a walkoff bomb to our guy, Nicky Delmonico in the 9th. So it’s clear that I have mixed emotions about that one, right? I’m going to write y’all an article about the conflicting interest in my coverage and fandom of the Sox (my favorite team) and the credibility to the gambling side of my coverage. That’ll be up soon.

Moneyline – BOS -165, CWS +150

Runline – BOS -1.5 (-105), CWS +1.5 (-115)

O/U – 9 (O +103, U -123)

First Pitch – 6:10 CT at Guaranteed Rate Field, Chicago, IL

Boston Red Sox

“OMG, Trent stop rambling on about old games and make me money for Saturday afternoon’s game.” Your wish is my command – Boston will send Eduardo Rodriguez to the bump Saturday. He’s at 2-2 on the year and owns a 6.16 ERA. His WHIP is middle of the road at 1.53. Most recently, Rodriguez only made it 4.2 innings, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits and 2 walks. As is the case with Boston, their rotation has been rough. J.D. Martinez seems to like playing at the G-Spot, he’s 6-9 in this series so far – 5 knocks and a double.

Chicago White Sox

The Sox will counter with Manny Banuelos, who I have been a fan of this season. Manny has looked great in his two starts, since getting the nod to join the starting rotation. The former longman out of the bullpen has thrown 9.2 innings, allowing 10 hits and only 2 earned runs in his two starts. Offensively, there were no bright spots for Chicago on Friday night. Our Southsiders only mustered 5 hits all game, James McCann accounted for 2 of them and the lone RBI.

Analysis & Prediction

I am going to slam the over on this game. Although I love Manny Banuelos, I think he will only make it 5 innings and then it’ll turn over to the bullpen. The White Sox are throwing a bullpen game on Sunday, so they will want to conserve the bullpen. See the problem there? The Red Sox bullpen is far from good as well, so I think there will be some scoring in this game. Take the over at a positive +103.

Trent’s White Sox Free Picks Record

3-3 (-.21 Units). A $100 bettor would be down $21 on this long season.
