Charlotte comes into tonight’s contest with a 6-7 record and looking to end a two game losing streak. LaMelo Ball has been exciting to watch in his young career- he is averaging just under 12 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists. Another big name on this team is Gordon Hayward who is averaging 22ppg and is shooting 41% from behind the arc. I know it’s early in the season but with a truncated NBA season and the Hornets currently finding themselves in the 8 spot in the Eastern Conference, they will have to string some wins together if they want a chance to play some playoff basketball.
The Raptors come into this game with a 3-8 record and are coming off a win over these same Hornets by a score of 111-108. Fred VanVleet leads the team in scoring with 20.5 ppg and has been having a nice campaign early on despite the team being last in the division. Toronto, as a team, is averaging 111.1 ppg. Despite the rough start to the season for this team, they are 4th in the league in 3 pointers made at 16 per game. On the defensive side of the ball, Toronto boasts a player who is top 5 in the league in steals and another top 5 player in blocks. Their defense has been a bright spot for this team this season but one can only rely on it for so long before it gives out- the offense has to do their part and Kyle Lowry has to step up as he is just averaging 18.7ppg.
Analysis & Best Bet
These teams did just play each other on Thursday night, and it ended up being a 3 point win for the Raptors. I am going to be taking the Hornets +7.5 (-110). The Hornets are a team to keep an eye out in the Eastern Conference and I think they keep it close against a Raptors team that has struggled early on in the season. The Raptors are a team that is bottom 5 in the league in field goal percentage which gives the Hornets a good chance to win outright but I am more comfortable taking 7.5 points.
