Analysis and Best Bet
There’s nothing to like about the current five-game skid for the Cubs. No offense, rough starting pitching outings, and a sloppy bullpen. Yesterday was an absolute dumpster fire of a game. Kyle Hendricks can’t get past the fifth inning and has allowed way too many homers. The offense was limited to five hits while Atlanta had 18. Yeah, 18. Oh, and Atlanta’s starting pitcher Huascar Ynoa hit a home run off Hendricks. The best part of the game (for the Cubs at least) was Anthony Rizzo striking out Freddie Freeman, but then again, that’s no shocker with Rizzo’s dominant pitching resume.
Adbert Alzolay (5.40 ERA) has been having a good season for Chicago. His ERA is a little higher but his strikeout numbers have been there. Adbert has 17 strikeouts in three outings. All of his starts have come against Milwaukee, so it will good to see how he handles another offense. Atlanta will send Bryse Wilson (5.00 ERA) as he faces Chicago for the second time this season. In his first outing against the Cubs, Wilson went 5.0 solid innings, giving up two runs and picking up the win.
My pick in this one might surprise some people, but I’m taking the under on 9.5 runs (-120). Adbert has been one of the better Cubs starters this season while Wilson held the Cubs last time out. The Cubs offense has failed to score a run in the last two games. I see them scoring tonight, but I’m not seeing a big offensive game from either side tonight.
