The Cubs are looking to get back on track and they will send out Yu Darvish who is 4-6 with a 4.43 ERA. He did not look too well in his last start but over his last 7 starts he is 2-2 with a 3.70 ERA while going 41.1 innings, giving up 34 hits, 17 earned runs, 57 strikeouts, and only 1 walk. The Cubs currently sit 3 games out of the division and hold control of the 2nd wild card spot. After getting swept by the Nationals, this is going to be a big week for the Cubs to see how they respond.
New York Mets
The Mets have been a little streaky lately after having a nice surge to put them in playoff talk. Tonight, they will trot out Marcus Stroman who has a 7-11 record and a 3.18 ERA. Cubs hitters aren’t too familiar with Stroman since he has always been with the Blue Jays so this will be the first look for a lot of these guys. Stroman has good stuff and can have great movement on his pitches. Pete Alonso has been playing well all season and he has been the big spark for this team.
Analysis and Prediction With how well Stroman has been pitching this season and the Cubs’ inability to lay off on pitches outside of the strike zone, I think Stroman should have a decent start. With that being said let’s roll with the Mets +1.5 at -180. This series should be close and it could come down to fundamentals.
