The Nationals took last night’s game by a score of 5-2. Lester looked awful giving up 5 runs and 10 hits in 4.1 innings. The bullpen looked a lot better than they did on Friday. For the Nationals, Stephen Strasburg looked magnificent going 8 strong innings while allowing 2 runs (1 earned) and 4 hits. Strasburg was pitching like the guy we all expect to. Today, each team will look for a victory to take the best of three series.

Kyle Hendricks takes the ball for the rubber match tonight against the Nationals on ESPN. This will be the third straight primetime game that the Cubs have played on Sunday. Hendricks comes in with a 3-4 record and a 2.86 ERA. Hendricks has been en fuego in the month of May with a 2-0 record and a 0.36 ERA including a complete game shutout. The bats were quiet last night, they were only able to muster up 4 hits and 2 runs. Look for the bats to get back on track against Hellickson who has had recent struggles.
Jeremy Hellickson will start tonight with a 2-2 record and a mediocre 6.00 ERA. He has given up 10 earned runs in his last 3 starts and has been terrible at home this season. The Nationals were able to draw 5 walks while on the way to a 5-2 victory last night. They face a tough Kyle Hendricks tonight and I think their bats will be pretty quiet tonight.
Analysis and Prediction
Given Hellickson’s struggles, I expect the Cubs’ bats to put up some runs. He has not been able to go 6 innings in his last 6 starts. Hendricks has been razor sharp as of late and I look for him to continue that trend. The Cubs look to lock up another series win, and I think they will. I am going to roll with the Cubs -1.5 (+120). 10 runs are a lot, but I will have to take the over on this one.
