The people on the southside of Chicago are starting to ask if the White Sox will ever win again. It’s been a lousy stretch of baseball as the boys have now lost 7 straight games. This is the second time this season that they have seen losing streaks this long. Meanwhile, the Indians are looking to make it two straight wins and bounce back from a sweep at the hands of the Rays this past weekend.

Dylan Cease takes the bump today for Rick Renteria’s ball club. It’s been a rough go for everyone over the last week but Cease will look to bounce back from an awful outing against the Twins last time out. He only lasted 2.0 innings, allowing 8 earned runs on 10 hits. The Twins went 7-9 against him the first time through the order and I honestly don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like that before. As for head to head statistics, this will be Cease’s first start against Cleveland. Our offense continues to be middle of the road as they are hitting .256 over the last 7 days with a slugging percentage of .339.
Cleveland will send Mike Clevinger to the bump tonight. Clevinger sits are 10-2 on the season with a 2.72 ERA and a WHIP of 1.06 – pretty damn good. Clev has allowed only a single earned run over his last three starts, spanning 18.2 innings including 8 shutout innings against the Tigers in his most recent outing. The bats are heating up for the Indians, it was only a matter of time. They’re hitting .268 with a slugging percentage of .476 over the last week and they will hope to continue that against a struggling Dylan Cease tonight.
Analysis & Prediction
This is a tough one to call for me tonight. The Sox need to break this losing streak but I just don’t know if it comes tonight. Cease got absolutely decimated last time out so I don’t feel confident backing hit against a playoff contender. On the flip side, there’s no value in taking Cleveland. Honestly, I hate this game so much. The best bet, in my opinion, is throwing a unit on the under on White Sox runs at 3.5 (-125) via betonline.ag. Clevinger is really nasty and he holds the Sox to a .185 batting average. Pair that with the fact that the Sox hit worse on the road than at home, it’s our best play for this game. Let’s go get em!
