What’s up NBA fans? I haven’t made an NBA wager all season as I mostly dabble in hockey and baseball, but let’s give it a shot and start our season off 1-0! Tonight the Pistons return to the UC for the second time this season to take on the Bulls. The Bulls won that matchup by a score of 112-106 back on November 1st.
Spread: CHI -1
Money Line: CHI -113, DET -107
Over/Under: 220 (-110)
Tip-off: 7:00 CT, United Center, Chicago, IL
The Pistons are currently 4-9 on the season and hold a tie for 10th in the Eastern Conference so they’ll look to make up some ground tonight as they take on Chicago. They are on a four-game slide and are only 2-6 in November. Detroit is well-rested as they last played on Friday in a losing effort to the Hornets by a score of 109-106. Langston Galloway led the team with 32 points in that matchup and Andre Drummond recorded a double-double with 16 points and 20 boards. As a team, the Pistons are averaging just 109 points per game but have the 3rd best shooting percentage in the league at 47.1%.
The Bulls have once again been a disappointment to Chicago fans this season. At 4-10, they are having a lot of trouble closing out games down the stretch. Similar to the Pistons, they are on a three-game losing streak and are just 3-6 in November. The main issue I have seen from Chicago is their inability to play defense. They essentially are leaving way too many guys open and they’re burying 3’s. Overall the Bulls team stats are reflective of their record – towards the bottom of the league. They are 29th in field-goal percentage (42.4%) and only hitting 32.7% of their three-point attempts.
Analysis & Prediction
I have absolutely no faith in this Bulls team or the head coach. For that reason, I will be going with the Pistons +1 tonight for a one-unit bet. I fully expect the veteran unit of Blake Griffin, Derrick Rose, and Andre Drumond to dominate Chicago tonight. The Bulls have no business being favored in this game. I think Detroit has the size advantage so they will be able to take over the inside but if the Bulls heat up from beyond the arc, Detroit will be able to hang as they are a league’s best (40.5%) from deep.
