There’s no point in trying to hide the purpose of Dortmund, it’s to score goals and it’s been working. BVB are the hottest team in the world right now even though Erling Håland has slowed down and they have their eyes set on silverware.
Dortmund’s five wins in a row have come over teams like Gladbach and Frankfurt so earning a second win over Paris can certainly be in the cards for the Germans. Sancho and Håland will need to keep pressure on the French side while Can, Hummels, and Bürki work on keeping a world class set of forwards out of goal.
After a short stretch of struggling that saw its finality in Dortmund, Paris have become much better in the sense that they’re not allowing nearly as many goals for the time being. Granted Bordeaux, Dijon, and Lyon aren’t the best competition, but they’re still professional teams that Paris have been shutting down.
Paris has also been scoring at a great clip, something they never stop doing. Mbappé and Neymar are otherworldly scorers and have great opportunities to win this match given the scoreline. Marquinhos and Presnel Kimpembe will be tasked with their toughest assignment of the season when trying to deny the Dortmund attack, but their performance will be vital to moving on.
Analysis and Pick
Listen, I’m going all in on goals. I don’t care that they only scored three in the first leg, I’m doubling down. Take the over in this game. I’m predicting a 3-2 scoreline in favor of Paris, winning the match but failing to move on. In other words, take the Paris moneyline and Paris to cover the spread. This is going to be fun to watch so you might as well win some money when these teams explode for goals.
