It felt great to get our first win under the belt since the revival of the website! The Cardinals jumped on the Cubs early and that pick sailed without a worry. Let’s keep it rolling tonight with a play on the hardwood and one on the diamond out west.
Phoenix Suns (+4.5) vs. Milwaukee Bucks
Spread: PHX +4.5 (+100) | MIL -4.5 (-110)
Money Line: PHX +175 | MIL -197
Total: 222 (O -110, U -110)
Tip: 9:00 ET | Fiserv Forum | Milwaukee, WI
My beloved Suns have their backs against the wall as they travel to Milwaukee to try and salvage Game 6 and extend this series. On the flip side, Kris Middleton and the Bucks will look to close it out and end the 50 year championship hiatus for Milwaukee.
I’m taking the Suns +4.5 (+100) for a unit tonight. Despite losing three straight games, Phoenix has kept the last two pretty close with the average margin of loss being 5.0 points. The magic hasn’t completely run out for the Suns but they’ll need someone else to step up whose name isn’t Booker, Paul, or Ayton. That trio combined for 81 points in game five on Saturday and it’s clear they’ll need some more assistance. Jae Crowder or Mikal Bridges must step up and bury their open looks from deep tonight.
Additionally, the Suns have to get big on the glass. They’ve been outrebounded in all five games thus far and that’s been the difference. Phoenix must limit opposing offensive boards and avoid giving second chance opportunities to the Bucks. This is a potentially career defining moment for Deandre Ayton. If he’s able to contain Giannis then there is a chance they can win outright and head back to the valley for a Game 7. But… I think they do enough to at least keep it close and cover the number. Take the Suns tonight plus the points.
The Pick: Phoenix +4.5 (+100)
Seattle Mariners (+163) vs. Colorado Rockies (-177)
Money Line: SEA (+163) | COL (-177)
Run Line: SEA +1.5 (-121) | COL -1.5 (+101)
Total: 11 (O -114, U -106)
First Pitch: 8:40 ET | Coors Field | Denver, CO
The pitching matchup tonight in Colorado sees Marco Gonzalez (1-5, 5.88 ERA) going for the M’s while the Rockies will counter with German Marquez (8-6, 3.36 ERA). Seattle’s been the better team this season with a record of 50-44 compared to Colorado’s 41-53 mark. But there are three huge advantages that we see tonight for the Rockies; hence why they’re the -177 favorite. For starters, they’re dominant at Coors Field. Well… relatively dominant compared to their road record. The Rockies are 32-19 at home compared to just 9-34 on the road.
They’ll also send their All-Star starter in German Marquez to the bump. The right-handed hurler has been magnificent this season and he’s only given up three runs over his previous five starts. Those five starts saw him amass 36.0 innings of work including a CGSO against the Pirates and an 8.0 IP, one-run effort against this very same Mariners side.
And finally, don’t sleep on the Rockies offense tonight. They’re the 10th ranked offense against left-handed pitching in terms of wOBA at .325 and 7th in BABIP at .314. Lucky for them, Marco Gonzalez is a lefty (and not a very good one either). Look for an abundance of runs tonight from Colorado as they should be able to win this one by a few runs. Give me the Rockies moneyline (-177) for a unit.
The Pick: Colorado ML (-177)
