We’re back at it after an 0-2 night on Tuesday with the Bucks taking the NBA Title and the Rockies losing to Marco Gonzalez & Co. We’re heading back to the diamond at the beautiful Busch Stadium where my best bet of the night takes place.
Chicago Cubs (+108) vs. St. Louis Cardinals (-118)
Money Line: CHC (+108) | STL (-118)
Run Line: CHC +1.5 (-198) | STL -1.5 (+173)
Total: 8 (O -123, U +103)
First Pitch: 7:15 EDT | Busch Stadium | St. Louis, MO
It’s Adbert Alzolay taking the bump for the Cubs while the Cardinals will counter with Kwang Hyun Kim. Alzolay’s 4-9 on the season with a 4.59 ERA and 1.11 WHIP. He’s lost five straight decisions but Chicago won last time he threw against the DBacks on Saturday. On the flip side, it’s the South Korean native, Kwang Hyun Kim getting the ball. He’s been solid this season, boasting a 5-5 record, 2.87 ERA, and 1.23 WHIP. He’s won four straight decisions and the team has won his last four starts. One of those starts was against the Cubs, where the lefty went 6.0 IP and allowed zero runs on five hits and a walk.
The pick tonight is the Cardinals at -118 for a unit. St. Louis is a 9th inning bullpen implosion away from being 3-0 in this series and they’re clearly the better team here. Kim has held the Cubs to a .193/.245/.288 slash line over 30 AB’s and only allowed two extra base hits. He should be geared up for a good night and he’s been trending the right way with the team winning his last four outings. The line’s only -118 for St. Louis and that’s because despite Alzolay not having fantastic numbers, he’s thrown well against the Cardinals. St. Louis is only slashing .147/.232/.291 against the young righty with Arenado and Goldy combining for 1-9 with a double. This should be a low scoring contest tonight but I’m confident the Red Birds can do enough to get it done and walk out of this series having taken three out of four games.
The Pick: Cardinals ML (-118)
