bet on it

Starting Thursday, we get 5 straight days of Football! Hallelujah! It will get even better when conference play starts when Tuesday MACtion and Wednesday Sun Belt games return. There are 3 games on Friday, 2 of which we believe are worthy of betting on (Sorry Kansas/BC, your game will make us all dumber for having watched it).

Wake Forest -3 vs. UNC: Friday 6 pm EST, Winston-Salem, NC:

This first game is one of my best bets for the Week!

UNC is another team that cased a ticket for me last week. And yet again they are getting no respect as a 3-point dog to Wake Forest.  What does this team have to do?! They beat South Carolina in week 1 and then go beat Miami who was coming off 14 days of rest! Who has Wake beaten? Rice and Utah State….. Forgive me if I’m not impressed. Wake has good offensive numbers and will be able to put up some points. But again, look at their competition. Their defense gave up a combined 56 points to those two teams, so I don’t see them getting many stops against UNC.  The wrong team is favored here. UNC gets their 3rd straight upset of the season 42-35. Take UNC +3!

Washington St. -9.5 @ Houston: Friday 9:15 pm EST, Houston, TX:

This will be another one of those how high will the total get games! The total is at 73.5 right now, and I expect that to be higher by game time. Washington state is 2-0 but hasen’t played anybody yet. Houston played decent against Oklahoma in week 1 and then beat the “mighty” Prairie View Panthers 37-17. A closer look at the box score  paints a bad picture for Houston. Prairie View threw for 100 more yards averaging 6.5 yards per attempt. Houston missed covering the spread by 16 points despite PRV having 11 penalties for 98 yards. Wash St. has only given up 24 points combined in their first 2 games. While the game is in Houston, its not quite a home game for the cougars. It’s being played in NRG Stadium (Where the Texans play). Washington State’s potent offense combined with Houston’s abysmal defense will lead to a barn burner high scoring game! Washington state is the best defense that Houston has played by a mile. WSU will get enough stops to cover the number. Take Washington State -9.5!
