O/U:  44 ½

Game Time/ Location:  3 pm CT, FS1, Jack Trice Stadium, Ames, IA

Iowa:  The #19 Hawkeyes come into this rivalry game 2-0 and are coming off a 30-0 shutout of B1G East opponent Rutgers last weekend.  Nate Stanley went 16-28 for 236 yards and three TD’s, two of which to Ihmir Smith-Marsette, who caught four passes for 113 yards and two TD’s.  The rushing game amassed 194 yards, and the top three backs averaged 5.47 yards per carry.  Defensively, Iowa held the Scarlet Knights to 125 yards of total offense (including just 47 yards passing) and just five first downs, while forcing three turnovers.  In injury news, DB Riley Moss, OL Alaric Jackson, and DB Julius Brents are out, while DB Kaevon Merriweather and OL Cole Banwart are questionable.

Iowa St:  The Cyclones are coming off a bye, but in week 1, they defeated FCS foe Northern Iowa 29-26 in OT.  Iowa St’s Brock Purdy went 30-41 for 278 yards and two TD’s, and Deshaunte Jones caught 14 passes for 126 yards.  The Cyclones combined for 185 rushing yards on the day, with their top three RB’s averaging 4.3 yards per carry.  On defense, the Cyclones held the Panthers to 34 total rushing yards on 31 carries (1.1-yard average).  As for injuries, P Corey Dunn is out for the season, while OL Colin Newell and RB Kene Nwangwu are questionable.

Final Analysis & Pick:  ESPN’s College GameDay will be in Ames for this one, and will be their first ever visit there.  The Hawkeyes lead the all-time series, 44-22, but in many of those years, the Cyclones were just downright awful.  However, Iowa St coach Matt Campbell has things going in the right direction now, and has brought respectability to the program.  But in this game, the Cyclones don’t match up with Iowa too well, particularly on defense.  Iowa St might be a program on the rise, but they’re just not there yet.  Lay the points with the Hawkeyes this Sat.
