The FA Quarterfinals keeps rolling this weekend after Man U beat Norwich City 2-1. We are in for 3 more quarterfinal games today and the best game (in my humble opinion) will be Leicester City and Chelsea. Both squads failed to make it this far in the FA tourney last year so they will look to reach the semifinals with a win here. I know this is not an EPL game but both teams are currently ranked 3 and 4 in the table which should make for a great game. Let’s get into it!
Money Line: Leicester City (+195); Chelsea (+135); Draw (+245)
Spread: Leicester City 0, 0.5 (-120); Chelsea 0, -0.5 (EVEN)
Goal Total: O/U 2.5 (-110)
Kickoff: 10am CST; King Power Stadium; Leicester, England
Jamie Varday is the big playmaker for Leicester City. The lad leads the club with 19 goals and the next person on the team has only 7. At the striker position, he is a threat to score a goal just about any time he touches the ball. The defense is anchored by Jonny Evans and Çaglar Söyüncü. The Foxes are held by Kasper Schmeichel who has 11 clean sheets in 31 appearances this season so look for the Dane to get the start between the posts. One weak link about Leicester is that they have struggled to score the ball with only 1 goal in their only 2 games since the restart. Both results have been a draw but if they want any chance against Chelsea, they will have to step up their game on offense.
The Blues will turn to Tammy Abraham and his 13 goals on the season to push them into the semifinals of the FA cup. Chelsea is coming off a win over Manchester City which clinched Liverpool the EPL title in which Willian was able to make the go-ahead penalty shot off a blatant Fernandinho hand ball in the box. In their two games since the restart, Chelsea has scored 2 goals in each game which shows that they are able to score the ball. Having 5 subs for the time being is one benefit for this team as they have good depth at the midfield and forward positions.
Prediction and Analysis
This should be a fun game to watch and both teams have been playing pretty well this season. I am going to give the slight edge to Chelsea in this one and I will be locking them in at +135. Even though they are the favorite in this one, getting +135 is great value. On paper, Chelsea has a better roster and a front line of Willian, Oliver Giroud/Tammy Abraham, and Christin Pulisic is tough to compete with. Also, in the last 4 matches in the FA Cup between these two squads, Chelsea has come out on top and I think that trend will continue today.
