Maryland: The 21st-ranked Terrapins come into this one 2-0. They’ve been the biggest surprise in the country so far, as they have outscored their opponents 142-20. In last week’s 63-20 demolition of Syracuse (who was then ranked 21st), they raced out to a 21-7 first quarter lead and kept their foot on the gas the rest of the way. They would go on to rack up 650 yards of offense, including 354 on the ground. Josh Jackson went 21-38 for 296 yards and three TD’s, while four RB’s combined to rush for 343 yards and four TD’s. Defensively, Maryland allowed 330 yards passing and three TD’s to the Orange, but only gave up 70 yards rushing. They also sacked QB Tommy DeVito four times and intercepted him once. They have no new injuries to report.
Temple: The Owls enter this one 1-0 and are coming off a bye week. In their game against FCS opponent Bucknell in week 1 (a 56-12 win), Anthony Russo passed for 409 yards and four TD’s, including 130 yards to Brandon Mack and 117 yards to Jadan Blue. The rushing game netted 188 yards, led by Re’Mahn Davis, who ran for 60 yards and a TD. On the defensive side, the Owls held Bucknell to a total of 21 rushing yards on the day, and got two sacks. Despite the large margin of victory, time of possession between the two teams was equal. They have no injuries coming into this one.
Final Analysis & Pick: Where did Maryland come from? They enter this one with the 4th ranked offense and 17th ranked defense in the country. Temple has the 2nd ranked offense and 10th ranked defense, but have only played one game so far, and that was against a lousy Bucknell squad that went 1-10 last year. The Owls had a bye last week, so they’ve had two weeks to prepare. It won’t matter. Temple will have no answer for the much-improved Terps. This line is incredibly low. Take the Terps, as they’re going to roll again.
