Jay’s Analysis & Best Bet

The Cubs are not playing around anymore. Their bats have been red-hot. Chicago has scored 38 runs over the course of their four-game winning streak (longest of the season). Everybody got into the fun yesterday.

Another solid day at the plate for the Cubbies

Today, Milwaukee will be sending Freddy Peralta (2.00 ERA) while Chicago is sending Adbert Alzolay (6.10 ERA). This is a very familiar pitching matchup as this will be the third time the two are facing off against each other. Peralta has the upper-hand, winning both of those matchups. Adbert was solid the second time around against Milwaukee, and I’m expecting a solid game from him. Even though the Cubs are scorching the ball, it’s tough to determine how they’ll do against Peralta and his slider/fastball combo. I’m expecting adjustments from the Cubs bats against Peralta and some damage done to Alzolay as well.

The Pick: Over on 7.5 runs (-115)

Austin’s Analysis & Best Bet

It’s safe to say that Chicago’s bats showed up yesterday. The Cubs were able to put up 15 in the opener of this series and just outplayed Milwaukee in every aspect. Kris Bryant stayed hot as he tallied three hits in four AB’s in the 15-2 blowout. Now looking onto today, the Cubs will send out Adbert Alzolay for his third start of the season against the Crew. In his career against the Brewers, Alzolay has allowed eight earned runs in only 11.1 innings pitched. Milwaukee will counter with Freddy Peralta who is 2-0 facing the Cubs this season only allowing one earned run in 11 innings. In his career, Peralta has typically done well against the Cubs but Chicago’s offense is red hot right now so it’ll be interesting to see how this matchup plays out.

Peralta has dominated the Cubs this season

Hitters know what they are going to get when they face Freddy Peralta. He is going to use his fastball an overwhelming majority of the time and to this point, the Cubs haven’t been able to have success against it. Peralta is a high strikeout pitcher and if he’s able to throw strikes, it should be another good day for Peralta against Chicago. My Best bet is the Brewers to win +101. As Jay mentioned, Alzolay pitched better in his second time facing the Brewers, but he hasn’t pitched since April 12th and there could be some rust. The Brewers lineup has plenty of left handed batters and with the way Omar Narvaez, Kolten Wong, and Travis Shaw have hit recently, I think the Crew will be able to get out to an early lead and be able to turn it over to the bullpen with the likes of Hader, Williams, and JP Feyereisen all not being used in a few days so they should be fresh and ready to go. I like Milwaukee in this game to bounce back from the opener.

The Pick: Milwaukee Money Line (+101)
