The Brewers look to take the first two games of the three-game weekend series after winning 7-0 Friday afternoon. Game two is today at Wrigley Field at 1:20 PM. The Cubs are favorites at -138 and the over/under is 7.5. The pitcher for the Brewers will be righty Kyle Davies (4-0, 1.56 ERA) and the Cubs will throw veteran southpaw Cole Hamels (3-0,3.38 ERA).
The Brewers pushed their win streak to 7 games with the victory Friday and look to their ace to extend it. Davies has only allowed 5 earned runs over 32.2 innings but has only pitched pasted the 6th inning once this season. In his only start against the Cubs this year he went 5.2 innings allowing 0 earned runs (2 unearned) in a Brewers win. Hamels is coming off a rough start in which he walked 6 over 5.1 innings against the Dodgers, he allowed 3 runs as well. Hamels went 6 innings allowing 2 earned runs in his lone start against the Brewers this season, which was a Cubs win.
Players to Watch:
Willson Contreras: Over his last 6 games he’s hitting .412 with 1 HR and 3 RBIs.
Yasmini Grandal: The switch-hitting catcher is batting over .340 against lefties this season with 2 HR.
The Cubs look to avoid their first series loss since their visit to Miller Park April 5-7th. Whichever team wins today will also take over first place in the NL Central. The Cubs bats fell silent yesterday and the Brewers are hot right now, I don’t like that combination. The Brewers will win a close one, take the Brewers and the Over.
Score: Brewers 5 Cubs 4, over 7.5
