MNF: Cleveland Browns vs. San Francisco 49ers: Preview and Prediction

By: Lucas Sreniawski

Spread: San Francisco (-5.0)

O/U: 47

Kickoff: 8:15 PM ET, San Francisco

Cleveland Browns

The Browns got a much-needed win in week 4 when Nick Chubb ran all over the Ravens to the tune of 165 yards and 3 touchdowns. Cleveland had gotten off to a shaky start offensively, having scored only 29 points in 3 games before their offensive explosion of 40 points in Baltimore. No matter what way you look at it this was a nice win for Cleveland and could turn out to be a turning point for them.

San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers are a surprise undefeated team coming out of their early bye as they prepare to host the Browns on Monday night, and while they haven’t exactly played any spectacular competition yet they have to be happy with how they’ve come out of the gates. That being said they have not been perfect as Jimmy Garoppolo is still throwing a few too many interceptions. If the 49ers really want to compete for the division, he will need to be more secure with the football.

Analysis and Prediction

This game is a little bit more difficult to pick as the Browns have been inconsistent and the 49ers have not had a real test yet. This game has the potential to get sloppy early as both QBs have been loose with the football so I expect this one to come down to which QB keeps himself under control and doesn’t force too much. I think that the Browns are going to look to establish the run game early once again and I think they’ll at least be able to keep this one close enough to cover. I’m going to pick the Browns to win this one by a score of 24-20, I’m not super confident about the Browns winning outright, but I do expect them to cover in this one.
