My Favorite Bet of the Afternoon: White Sox vs. Royals – 9/6/20 (Analysis & Pick)

By: Trent Pruitt (@trentbets)

Let’s end the week on a high note! We’ve been on a solid tear with our MLB picks over the past couple of weeks, going 10-4 over the last 14 bets. I have a very confident play for this afternoon’s Sox vs. Royals game for anyone looking for a Sunday sweat! Hector and I will also be dropping a preview and picks for the Cardinals vs. Cubs game tonight on Sunday Night Baseball, so be on the lookout for that!

Chicago White Sox (-215) vs. Kansas City Royals (+196): 1:05 CST

If you follow me on Twitter (@trentbets) then you likely saw my tweet saying that the White Sox haven’t lost at Kauffman Stadium since July 18th, 2019. If they can get the win this afternoon, they’ll have gone 7-0 at Kauffman on the season. I think they do it, give me the White Sox on the money line (-215) for three units! Rick Renteria will send out Dallas Keuchel and he’s gone 5-2 on the year with a 2.42 ERA and he ranks 6th in wins and 10th in ERA in the majors. But no one cares about wins and ERA nowadays, so let’s dive into the deeper stats. Starting with his head-to-head stats, he’s held Mike Matheney’s side to a .182/.240/.327 slash line over 71 AB’s. Also, the wind is going to play a monster role in today’s game. According to DailyBaseballData.com, there will be 19 mph winds heading to left-center field:

That favors the White sox massively as A) They are a top three hitting team in the league & B) Dallas Keuchel makes his living off of inducing groundballs. He leads the majors with 70 groundball outs this season and his GB% is 55.8% this season. His GB% is third in the MLB amongst pitchers that have thrown at least 40 innings (Houston’s Valdez, Cincy’s Castillo).

The final reason we’ll be taking the Sox this afternoon is because they are facing Matt Harvey. That’s all I’ll say. Do a quick google on Harvey right now and see how he’s fared in three starts this season.
