I’m going to mix it up a little bit and give my favorite bets for the evening rather than focusing on a single game. Last time I did this, I went 0-4 so the law of averages says we should be in for a better result this time around.
Cleveland Indians vs. Kansas City Royals: 7:05 CST
The play here is the Indians on the money line -190 for a unit. The Royals send Matt Harvey to the bump as he’s set to make his third start of the season. So far he hasn’t made it past the third inning. Harvey has given up seven earned runs and two homers over 5.2 innings in 2020.
On the flip side, Zach Plesac will return to the rotation for the Indians tonight after breaking team rules in Chicago a few weeks back. The second-year righty is 1-1 on the season, boasting a 1.29 ERA and 0.67 WHIP over 21.0 IP (3 starts). He was excellent before he was exiled by the Indians management and I expect him to come back to a chip on his shoulder. The Tribe will get it done tonight in the K.C. as they need to keep pace with the blazing White Sox in the A.L. Central.
Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Los Angeles Dodgers: 8:40 CST
Are there any franchises more “big brother/little brother” than L.A. and Arizona? It seems like every time these two meet up the Dodgers pound the DBacks. That was the case when L.A. took three out of four over Arizona and covered the -1.5 run line in all three victories. We’re going back to the Dodgers on the run line in this one: LAD -1.5 (-119) for a unit.
The DBack unloaded yesterday at the deadline sending away Robbie Ray, Starling Marte, Archie Bradley, and Andrew Chafin. Alex Young, Arizona’s starter isn’t going to go deep in this game as he’s never gone past the 5th inning. The DBacks bullpen will now be without a pair of their reliable guys so expect this game to get out of hand. Finally, it’s a small sample size with the short season but Young has a 5.91 ERA on the road (10.2 IP) vs. 3.65 ERA at home (12.1 IP). Everything points to a Dodgers dismantling of the DBacks in the City of Angels tonight.
