Will the Atlanta Braves join the club of “Teams to Blow a 3-1 Lead” alongside the 2016 Indians, 2016 Golden State Warriors, 2020 Los Angeles Clippers and many more? Or will Ian Anderson step up and add another win to his perfect 2-0 2020 playoffs and help the Braves advance to the World Series! Let’s dive into tonight’s game and look for some stats and trends and predict the winner!
Money Line: LAD -155, ATL +135
Run Line: LAD -1.5 (+135), ATL +1.5 (-155)
Total: 8 ( O +100, U -120)
First Pitch: 7:14 CST, Globe Life Field, Arlington, TX
The Braves offense piled up nine hits but were only able to knock in one run in game six as they lost 3-1. They had the sacks packed in the top of the second with no outs but Walker Buehler was able to strike out Austin Riley and Nick Markakis, and force a 6-3 groundout courtesy of Cristian Pache.
Brian Snitker will opt for the 22-year-old righty, Ian Anderson in the win-or-go-home game! Anderson is 1-0 in the 2020 playoffs with a 0.00 ERA over 15.2 innings – very impressive. He’s punched out 22 batters and walked eight. Anderson faced the Dodgers on Tuesday and limited the Dodgers to a single hit over 4.0 scoreless innings but walked five. He only threw 85 pitches so he should be ready to roll and all rested up.
Los Angeles Dodgers
As for the Dodgers, they rattled off wins in games five and six and were able to force this game seven! All three of their runs in game six came in the bottom of the first thanks to back to back bombs from Seager and Turner and a Bellinger RBI single. If you watched our weekly Youtube show, Brunch, Bets, & the Boys I pointed out that Turner and Bellinger both had great numbers against Max Fried and it’s great to see our analysis and research turned into a profit.
Anyways, Dave Roberts has just announced that Dustin May will get the ball for Game 7. He will be going on 2 days rest and he is 1-0 with a 1.35 ERA in the 2020 postseason. He did show some signs of command issues as he has issued 4 walks and a hit batter but when the big, hard throwing righty can locate his fastball, he should be able to have his way with the Atlanta batters. He most likely will be on a short leash and give way to Clayton Kershaw who will be used but tonight as it is all hands on deck tonight.
Final Analysis & Best Bet
With tonight being an all hands on deck situation, both managers will want to limit the runs allowed. I am going with the under of 8 runs for tonight (-120). I think the Dodgers bats have been extremely hit or miss this series and somewhat streaky. That’s props to the Atlanta rotation and excellent bullpen. On the flip side, I think Dustin May will show up for a massive game and limit the Braves. Both managers will be deploying their bullpen arms early and runs will be at a premium in this one.
