Real Madrid (DWWLD)

Real Madrid have been a bit like Gladbach this season in that they’ve underwhelmed to date. They’re only 4th in La Liga and 3rd in the Champions League. While the first accolade is acceptable at this point, the latter is not. What Real have proven since Ronaldo left is that they’re a very solid team with a reliable defense but an offense that needs help. Real are constantly playing from behind and it can’t win with consistency by doing that. Casemiro hasn’t been nearly as dominant and the likes of Modrić can’t pull the strings like he was once able to. With Ramos, Valverde, Casemiro, Jović, and maybe Benzema out this match is set to be a struggle.

Inter Milan (DDLDW)

Speaking of underwhelming, let’s talk about Inter. Antonio Conte’s team is ridiculously loaded, yet they’re very, very disappointing. They’re 5th in Serie A in a season where they’re expected to win it and dead last in the Champions League after two draws and their loss to Real Madrid. While the forwards are scoring, no one else is doing much of anything. There’s so much production left on the table and the defense, Samir Handanovic in particular is crumbling. There needs to be a meaningful switch flipped if this club wants to do any type of winning this season.

Analysis and Pick

Injuries and absences will play a big role in this game. Marcelo Brozović being out is a big hit for Inter while all the players I listed earlier for Real will be missed a lot. I don’t really have a lock for this game with all those players missing. The attack of RMA is anemic and the defending without Ramos and Casemiro makes me very uncomfortable. That being said it’s very tough to trust Inter right now. I suppose I’m leaning the home side but I don’t love the lines. Take Inter to cover the spread. For what it’s worth, if you want to bet the draw or Inter money lines or the under 3 goals I like those as well.
