St. Louis Cardinals vs Texas Rangers: Preview & Prediction – 5/17/19

I’m super hyped to win some money tonight because this St. Louis Cardinals versus Texas Rangers match up has some lines that I am a HUGE fan of. Let me start by laying out the pitchers. It will be Miles Mikolas going for the Cards taking on Jose Leclerc for the Rangers. Mikolas has been a solid, reliable starter for the Cardinals all season. He has a 3.83 ERA while his opposing pitcher has a 6.32 ERA. That is an immediate tilt for the Red Birds. The Rangers are coming in ice cold as they have only won two of their last seven games. Those two wins were against a very mediocre ball club in the Kansas City Royals. St. Louis hasn’t been too good either, but I believe this is a playoff caliber lineup.

Line – St. Louis -150, Texas +130

Spread – St. Louis -1.5

O/U – 11.5

First Pitch – 7:05 p.m. CT at Globe Life Park, Arlington, Texas

St. Louis Cardinals

The Cardinals have been down on themselves after getting dismantled a couple of weeks ago by the Chicago Cubs. They are struggling mightily. However, they have had a tough little stretch of games against very good baseball teams. Their offense has really been struggling as of late as they have only scored 10 runs in their last five losses. This lineup is capable of turning a corner and flipping a switch, though. The Cards have too many big named bats to not be scoring runs. Also, their team batting average is .258 which means that they are getting on base. They just aren’t capitalizing on those runners.

Texas Rangers

Outside of Rangers’ fans, can any MLB fans name more than one or two people on their roster? Joey Gallo, Elvis Andrus, and then who? The lineup has actually not been the problem this season as they are batting about .250 and have an on base percentage north of .330. The Achilles Heel of this team has been their pitchers. The hurlers currently bolster an ERA of 5.29 and a WHIP of 1.55. That is miserable. Somehow, the Rangers only sit three games below the .500 mark. Jose Leclerc, a relief pitcher, will get the nod tonight. His WHIP is 1.79. Yes, you read that correctly. He stinks. The offense is going to have to be clicking again this evening because if this pitching match up doesn’t fix the Cardinals offense, nothing will.

Analysis & Prediction

11.5 is a ginormous number of runs scored in a baseball game. For that reason, I’ll be hammering the under of 11.5. As far as the game goes, I’m going to parlay the under with the Cardinals -1.5, but the money line is also an option for those who wish to play it a little safer. I’m really excited about both of these lines because 11.5 is such a good number and I believe St. Louis is a whole lot better than what they have been showing lately. Let’s win some money tonight.
