I can’t say I love the Player’s Weekend uniforms, but if the White Sox continue to play like they did last night, then I would say we wear those for all 162 games. The Boys in Black (trademark pending) picked up another W Friday night and they received contributions all throughout the lineup. It was a final score of 8-3 and Dylan Cease grabbed his 3rd win of the season.
Money Line: CWS -119, TEX +109
Run Line: CWS -1.5 (+155), TEX +1.5 ( -165)
Over/Under: 9.5 (O -105, U -115)
First Pitch: 6:10 CST, Guaranteed Rate Field, Chicago, IL
The Rangers look to bounce back after dropping two straight to our beloved White Sox. They’ll send Kolby Allard and his 6.60 ERA to the mound to try and end their losing streak. The lefty hasn’t been great over his three starts since making it to the big leagues, giving up 6, 3, and 2 runs but not making it past 5 2/3 in any of those. It’s way too early to make any kind of decision on the young man out of San Clemente, CA, but he’s not on the right track so far. As for this Texas offense, they also haven’t been great as of late. They are only batting .241 in the second half of the season compared to the .254 that they saw in the first half. That showed last night when they only grabbed three runs, which all came in the first inning.
Chicago White Sox
This White Sox team is looking good right now. Although they sit at 59-69 on the season, they’re playing some of their best ball. Tim Anderson continues to swing it, Moncada came back hot, and last night the bottom of the order was able to muster up some offense despite a rough game from Jose Abreu. They’ll send Ivan Nova to try and capture their 4th straight win. Nova has been magical as of late, dropping his ERA from 5.86 on July 17th to 4.47 entering Saturday’s matchup. He’s only given up 4 earned runs over those six starts, picking up 5 wins in the process. Earlier in the season it was #FadeNova, but he’s definitely come into his own as the season carried on.
Analysis & Prediction
It #WinnersOnlySaturday, so the stress levels are high right now. To all of those that believe in the law of averages, I hate to ruin your Saturday but we’re going with the White Sox again on Saturday night to beat the Rangers for the third straight game. Nova has been great as of late, he holds the Rangers to a .191 average, and the Sox crush lefties. They’re hitting .275 against LHP this season compared to .246 against RHP. Take the Sox to win their 4th straight game.
