Toronto Blue Jays vs Chicago White Sox: Preview & Prediction – 5/18/19

Last night was a great night if you followed my free moves. I said that the Blue Jays offensive was due to break out and it happened as they smacked an awful Ivan Nova of the White Sox. If you follow me on Twitter (handle at the bottom) you noticed I was on our writer, Luke’s move to take the Under in Cardinals/Rangers game. Not bad, a 3-0 day for the boys. All that matters is what we do today so let’s win you some money this Saturday afternoon on another White Sox Free Pick.

Money Line – CWS -140, TOR +130

Run Line – CWS -1.5 (+135), TOR +1.5 (-155)

Over/Under – 9.5 (O -116, U-103)

First Pitch – 1:10 CST, Guaranteed Rate Field, Chicago, IL

Toronto Blue Jays

This is not a typo – The Jays will send a man to the mound who has only thrown 7.1 innings in Major League Baseball over the last decade. From the end of 2008 to his start today, Ryan Feierabend has pitched 7.1 innings, back when he had a short stint with the Rangers in 2014. Charlie Montoyo gives him the nod today and honestly, I’ll just drop this gif here to show my reaction to the “Career -2-11 & 7.15 ERA” starter:

The Jays offense, after exploding for 10 runs last night in their win over Chicago (10-2), still own one of the worst offenses in baseball. I think they got the homeruns out of their system last night and will struggle today when they face the White Sox flamethrower, Lucas Giolito.

Chicago White Sox

Perfect transition – Giolito will toe the rubber this afternoon as the Sox look to take the 2-1 lead in this 4-game set. Lucas has shown glimpses of greatness all season but overall has been inconsistent. After his last two starts, he has been able to drop his ERA from 5.32 to 3.55. During that stretch, he has gone 14.1 innings and allowed only 1 run on 7 hits – pretty damn impressive. I expect Giolito to be on his A-Game today and dominate these guys for the second time in the same week. Offensively, the Sox were able to muster some baserunners last night but after getting down 7-0 in the 3rd, it was way too steep of a hole to climb out of.

Analysis & Prediction

The White Sox sit at 20-23 on the season and I believe they are pushing to get back to a .500 club. With that being said, they realize the tough schedule coming after this series and they need to win today and tomorrow. That is a minimal factor in this game and the real money lays in the pitching matchup this afternoon. I’m surprised the line is this low with the Jays marching out a guy who hasn’t thrown a professional pitch in 5 years. As I said, Giolito crushes souls today and the Sox bats heat up – take the White Sox on the money line for 2 units.

8-9-1 (+0.71 Units). A $100 bettor would be up $71 this season.
