Washington Wizards vs. Chicago Bulls Preview and Prediction – 2/23/2020

By Jay Patel

Spread: Washington Wizards (-2.5)

O/U: 229

Tip-Off: 6:00 PM CT, United Center, Chicago, IL

Another day, another L for the Chicago Bulls. Chicago is on a terrible skid, losing eight straight, and destroying their playoff chances. The Bulls came out of the break with four straight home games against teams below .500, however, they have fallen flat, already losing the first two games after the break. The Wizards are 2.5 games ahead of the Bulls, and lead the season series 2-1.

Washington Wizards

The Wizards are the ninth seed in the east, mostly because of the superstar play of Bradley Beal. Beal leads the team with 29.1 PPG (5th in the NBA), and 6.1 AST. Like Zach LaVine for the Bulls, Beal has been carrying the Wizards for the majority of the season.

The Wizards are coming off a 113-108 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, but have fared well recently, going 5-5 in their last 10 games. Compared to the Bulls, the Wizards are better in points per game, field goal %, assists per game, and blocks per game. One major flaw for the Wizards is their poor defense as they allow almost 120 points per game.

Bradley Beal is carrying the Wizards into the playoff race

Chicago Bulls

Coby White had a career-high 33 points, draining seven 3-pointers, but that wasn’t enough as the Bulls lost to the Phoenix Suns, 112-104. The Bulls have been ravaged by injuries. Depending on the availability of Otto Porter Jr. and Wendell Carter Jr., the Bulls could be in for another rough game tonight. The Bulls don’t have the talent to make up for all of their losses. It’s been a rough season in the Windy City, and the injuries aren’t making anything better.

Analysis and Prediction

Nothing is right in Chicago right now. The injuries are too much to handle even with the favorable schedule. There’s about seven Bulls out due to various injuries. In what should be a win if the Bulls had more healthy players, Chicago will probably drop their ninth straight game tonight. Washington will cover at the -2.5 spread, and send the Bulls further down the standings.
