The Sox played some solid baseball this past weekend. They took three out of four over a terrible Tigers team and notched one win in a weekend series with the A’s, leaving their record for the week at 4-3. That’s pretty much what you’d expect at this point, the Athletics are a tough squad that boasts a pretty nasty rotation.
Our shortstop continues his breakout season as nobody can seem to get this guy out. This past week he hit .520 (13-25) and raised his overall batting average to .324. I’m not going to lie, I didn’t think it was sustainable but he is really seeing the ball well and causing some damage at the plate. Anderson also swiped a bag this week.
Bummer continued his stellar season after making two appearances this week. He pitched 3.1 innings and only allowed three hits. That equates to a 0.90 WHIP to go along with the 0.00 ERA on the week.
The Week Ahead
The Sox will take on the AL West this week starting Monday night with a 3-game set against the Astros. They are the #1 team in our American League Power Rankings and rightfully so. They just finished up a series with the Orioles that saw them win a game 23-2. Their rotation lines up to see Zack Grienke, Gerrit Cole, and Wade Miley – yikes. Following this likely beatdown, the Sox hit the road for a 4-game series with the Angels. The Angels are a solid team but I would expect the White Sox to be able to hit their pitching and maybe split, if not take three of those games. I would say 3-4 is a realistic record for the Southsiders this upcoming week.
