If you read the XFL power rankings for Week 2 (which you all should) you would see that these two teams are ranked 1st and 8th in the rankings. The Tampa Bay Vipers have easily been the worst team in the XFL so far. On the flip side, the Houston Roughnecks have been the highlight of the league led by QB P.J. Walker. This is the first time the Vipers will be playing in front of their home crowd, so maybe that will give them an extra boost this week.
Spread: Houston Roughnecks -6.5
Money Line: Houston Roughnecks -280, Tampa Bay Vipers +210
Kickoff: 1:00 p.m. CST. Raymond James Stadium, Tampa Bay, Florida
Easily the best bet through the first two weeks of the XFL has been the unders. Out of the eight games played so far in this young XFL season, six of those games have been under. The only problem is that the Roughnecks have been a part of the two games that have gone over. The main reason that those games have been going over is that the Roughnecks offense has been the best in the league so far. P.J. Walker leads all quarterbacks with 7 touchdowns and a QBR of 107.4. They have been the highest scoring team in both of the first two weeks and there has been no signs of them slowing down.
I would say the over would be a safe bet because of how good the Roughnecks have been, but I am staying as far away from the over/under in this game. The reason why is because the Vipers are so bad. They’re honestly one of the worst teams I have seen in a while. Their only touchdown this season came on a pick-six after the ball was tipped. Besides that pick-six, the Vipers offense has only been able to put up two field goals. Some rumors have been circulating that Marc Trestman has already begun to lose the locker room, but those are still just rumors.
Easily the best bet for this game is the Roughnecks -6.5. I guess the oddsmakers are giving Tampa the benefit of the doubt because they are at home, but this line is honestly insulting to the Roughnecks. They should easily handle the Vipers and win this game by 2-3 scores.
