Jorge Martin introduced himself with immense ambition with Prima Pramac for 2024, setting his sights on the MotoGP championship. Feeling better than ever, he aims to enhance what he lacked in 2023. Moreover, he’s eager to make the leap to an official team for 2025. Ducati is his priority, but he’s keeping his options open.
Vibration issues on his bike
“Of course, Ducati has been looking into it. I spoke with Gigi Dall’Igna today; the team is working hard on it. I’m calm, first because it’s something out of my control, I’m focused on my style and being competitive. And secondly, because I believe it was something in the bike that wasn’t working, and as I had a crash and we had to change a large part of the bike, hopefully, the vibration will have disappeared. I’m relaxed.”
Feelings about the GP24
“They are better than with the GP23. In Malaysia, the first test is never easy, and I had some doubts even though I set the time with the new bike, but in Qatar, all my doubts disappeared. I was much faster with the new bike and can do better. I trust one hundred percent that it is better. There are no super differences, but it is better, and I’m happy.”
Fermín Aldeguer, close to Prima Pramac MotoGP 2025
“I think he’s ready. By the end of last year, he already showed his potential. Now he has to prove it in a season that will be long, and fight for the title. But I’m sure that right now he is the strongest Moto2 rider. I don’t know if he has signed yet or not, but surely this will give him confidence for the rest of the season.”
Future
“It’s still early; we have to wait. Ducati already chose Bagnaia, surely he deserves it, but we’ll see. I’ve already shown what I’m capable of, and I believe if I start the season like this, there’s no other option, and I’m ready for the Ducati official seat. If not, we’ll see.”
New mental work
“I worked a lot on the mental side. Even my physical condition is better, but there’s always room for improvement. Mentally it was important to work. I hadn’t worked on it before; now I am. I feel a bit more prepared than in the past. It’s time to prove it on the track.”
New colors
“The bike is quite beautiful; we’ve made a big step in terms of design. We’ll have to try to ride the bike more aggressively and be more aggressive on the track, try to bring it to the front positions.”
How the market affects him
“It’s something I can’t control. I don’t know if Ducati leaks or not, it’s not up to me. I focus on my part, which is riding. Regarding signings, I have my manager. I don’t want to get into that, we’ll see what happens.”
Aspects he’d like to improve compared to 2023
“Many things. You can always improve in all aspects. In terms of riding and speed, we were already very prepared. If I wasn’t the strongest at the end of the season, I was almost there. The points to improve are: the start of the season, because last year was where I suffered the most and then had to recover, surely, Sundays, also a point where you have to work on configuration, not work with used tires because I already did that, but maybe prepare the bike more for Sunday rather than just being fast and, then, mentally, I think I suffered a bit at the end of the season, I was under quite a bit of pressure and was obsessed, maybe, with that victory and then things didn’t work out, so work a bit on that aspect.”
