With a commanding lead that rendered the closing moments of the game inconsequential, the New York Knicks have reasserted their dominance by defeating the Indiana Pacers 121-91. This victory puts them one win away from advancing to the Eastern Conference Finals and moving closer to competing for the NBA title.
On Tuesday, Jalen Brunson delivered his fifth playoff game scoring over 40 points, leading the charge with 44 points, propelling the Knicks to a significant victory that has them on the brink of the next round. With two games left in the series, to be played at alternating venues, the Knicks have won all three matchups held at Madison Square Garden.
Despite the absence of key players Julius Randle, OG Anunoby, and Mitchell Robinson, the Knicks dominated the Pacers from start to finish, spearheaded by an unstoppable Brunson. He was supported by Isaiah Hartenstein, who was dominant in the paint, contributing seven points and grabbing 17 rebounds, 12 of which were offensive. Hartenstein left the court in the fourth quarter with the game already decided.
A Near-Decisive Victory
Josh Hart added 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Miles McBride scored 17 points for Tom Thibodeau’s team, which at one point held a 31-point lead.
The Pacers, who had made a strong statement at home with a dominant performance in Game 4, were thoroughly outplayed in New York and now return to Indiana with their backs against the wall.
